Census Results are in

The results of the 2010 census were released yesterday and the US population grew to 308,745,538. The country has added about 27 million residents over the past 10 years, but it is the slowest growth rate since the Great Depression with the population only growing 9.7%. The census is important not only because it tells us the population of the United States, but also shows us the makeup of the House of Representatives. With the new data, several states will see a change in their number of representatives.
Gaining House seats: AL, FL, CA, NV, SC, TX, UT, WA

Losing seats: IL, IA, LA, MA, MI, MO, NJ, NY, OH, PA

Texas gains four seats - the most of any state, while the south in general made gains in the past decade.

Stylebook: In honor of Speaker Nancy Pelosi's last day

While I knew this day was coming, the reality of it has finally set in. Today is the last day that Nancy Pelosi will be Speaker of the House of Representatives. And in honor of this somber day, I have looked high and low of some of my favorite moments of Speaker Pelosi.

Stylebook: Michelle Obama wears Marc Jacobs

Huffington Post
According to the Huffington Post, First Lady Michelle Obama has worn American designer Marc Jacobs for the first time. She wore the black sequin dress during a holiday party at the White House and looked absolutely amazing. I love that the First Lady takes risks with her fashion choices and this piece definitely stands out as one of my favorites!

Tweets: Sen. Claire McCaskill tweets grandchildren

On of the most popular Capitol Hill tweeters, Sen. Claire McCaskill tweeted yesterday this gorgeous photo of her grandsons. As you many know, the Senate is still in session and might continue through the Christmas holiday. While I sympathize with all the Senators still working, I never understand why the Senate always wait till the last minute to bring bills to the floor. If I remember correctly, they did this last year when they were trying to finish up the healthcare bill.

Christmas at the White House

The White House posted a host of pictures this past week of the Obamas' participating in Christmas events around town and at the White House. Here are a couple of my favorites.

I found this gem of outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi this past week walking in the Capitol after the tax cut deal. I love the tweed suit paired with one of her signature scarves.
