White House Internship
The Summer 2010 White House Internship is now available on whitehouse.gov. According to the website, the internship is open to applicants 18 years and older and those who are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a college, community college, or university (two-to-four year institution) or must have graduated in the past two years from undergraduate or graduate school.

Also new to the summer internship is the opportunity for students who are on a quarter system or those that can only work part time (the program is usually full time only) to apply to the program as well. Those students who have the chance to work in the Office of Presidential Correspondence, responsible for the official correspondence from the president, and have the same opportunities as other students. Urban Education Leaders Internship Program
Another great internship opportunity is a program started by Washington, DC School Chancellor Michelle Rhee to encourage students to get involved in education policy projects.

The program is open to undergraduates as well as graduates students and students can intern during any semester throughout the semester. The program's focus is on conducting research and finding solutions to challenges in the current education system. The deadline for the Spring is January 15, and the Summer program has an early application deadline of December 18, 2010 and regular deadline of March 31, 2010. Health Care Analyst Summer Graduate Student Intern, Government Accountability Office
If you are really interested in the health care debate that has embattled much of the nation the last couple of months, I have a great opportunity for you. The Government Accountability Office has an opening for a Health Care Analyst position for graduate students.

The internship will take place this summer and the student will have the chance to assist analysts with reviewing Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health systems ran by the government. The internship is paid and pays between 38,000.00 - 55,015.00, depending on education and experience, prorated over the course of the summer. Development Associate, The Public Justice Center, Inc., Baltimore, Maryland

Qualifications include:Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university. One to three years fundraising experience preferred. Comfort with and demonstrated skill with computers, Internet and social media. Demonstrated knowledge of Tapestry fundraising software is a plus; Job requires careful attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, excellent writing and verbal communication skills, ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Strategic and analytical thinking skills are a definite plus ; Successful candidate will be friendly, positive, creative, willing to learn and grow, ethical, hard working, and comfortable in a collaborative public interest law office environment.; Associate will be required to use good judgment and discretion in handling confidential donor information.

Communications Coordinator, Office of Family and Public Engagement, Washington, DC Public Schools

The Office of Family and Public Engagement oversees DCPS' work with parents, families and community partners, and leads community engagement, strategic communications, and press.
Communications Coordinator is responsible for and investigating internal stories at schools and across the DCPS organization; creating and managing multimedia content; creating other communications including reports, and digital articles; and researching and fact checking major communications. Communications Coordinator reports to Chief of Staff, Office of Family and Public Engagement

Qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years work experience required, with master’s degree and specific experience in project management preferred. Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus. Experience with multimedia, photography and video editing software preferred.
