Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AR) is recovering as well as can be expected after being shot along with 19 other this past weekend. She remains in stable condition at the hospital but has been communicating through hand gestures to doctors and family members. Rep. Giffords, pictured above with Speaker Boehnor, was just sworn in for her 4th term last week.
“I am happy to say that she is holding her own. She is able to generate her own breath," stated Dr. G. Michael Lemole Jr., chief of neurosurgery at University Medical Center. This the phase of the care where so much of it is up to her. She is going to take her recovery at her own pace," said Dr. Lemole.
