Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was in New York City today to attend the New Yorker Festival. The annual event, now in its twelfth year, brings notable writers, artists, and visionaries together to discuss issues like film, music, and politics. The event was held over the weekend and Pelosi was the featured guest on Sunday afternoon. She was interviewed by New Yorker writer Jane Mayer on a variety of topics including her family life, her time in Congress, and her success in passing health care form.
She also talked about one of our favorite topics here at Political Girl - the need for more women to get involved in politics. On the topic, she said,
"There is nothing more wholesome for the political process than for women to participate." Agreed!
