Robin Givhan leaves the Washington Post

The New York Times is reporting that Robin Givhan, the famed writer of the Washington Post and 2006 Pulitzer Prize winner is leaving the newspaper to join the revamped Newsweek as a special correspondent for style and culture. Givhan was with the Post for 15 years and often covered the First Lady, including writing a scathing piece on her when she wore shorts last year on a trip to the Grand Canyon. She also penned a book about the First Lady entitled "Michelle: Her First Year as First Lady" that was released earlier this year.
Givhan is the latest of high profile writers to leave the Washington Post. Media Critic Howard Kurtz left a couple of months ago for the Daily Beast/Newsweek. Tina Brown, Givhan's new editor at Newsweek was said in a statement yesterday, “We are thrilled that Robin Givhan is bringing her stylish pen, reportorial rigueur and keen cultural insight to Newsweek and The Daily Beast.”
