Former first lady Rosalynn Carter speaks at the RAND African First Ladies Initiative

Forrmer first lady Rosalynn Carter was recently at the RAND African First Ladies Initiative held a couple of weeks ago in New York City. Joined by Sierra Leone first lady Sia Nyama Koroma, Senegal first lady Viviane Wade, Namibia first lady Penehupifo Pohamba, Lesotho first lady Mathato Mosisili, and Cherie Blair, wife of former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blai, the women gathered to explore ways to grow their leadership roles on issues such as maternal health, girls education and women's economic development. Good to see Mrs. Carter still out and serving others!

A couple of former presidents and first ladies gathered last night at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Presidents Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, George. H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush were joined by their wives (except Secretary of State Hillary Clinton), Rosalynn Carter, Barbara Bush, and Laura Bush for the "All Together Now - A Celebration of Service" performance in honor of former President George H. W. Bush.

Happy President's Day! By the side of every great President is a greater First Lady....

Since 1971, we have celebrated President Day to celebrate and honor all past presidents including the most famous two who was born on in February - Abraham Lincoln (February 12) and George Washington (February 22). Presidents' Day was established by President Nixon and is observed on the 3rd Monday of February. Well, we here at Political Girl got to thinking - why not honor those incredible women standing by these presidents.
